Buffing Machine from Industrial Machinery Corporation (IMC) is designed to improve metal-surface finish and appearance using suitable buffing wheels and compounds. IMC supplies manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic configurations from Ludhiana, India.

Buffing Machine Applications

  • Metal surface finishing
  • Pipe and rod buffing
  • Fabricated-part finishing
  • Pre-finish and final shine operations

Buffing vs Polishing

Polishing and buffing are related finishing processes but may use different abrasive grades, wheels and compounds. Machine selection should follow the workpiece material, initial surface condition and required final finish.

Live Buffing Machine Capacity

The live IMC specification lists 3–25 mm wire/rod diameter, 6–50 mm pipe diameter, a 300 × 50 flap-wheel reference, motor references of 5 H.P. and 3 H.P. at 1440 RPM, and approximate machine weight of 300/400 kg.

Select the Right machine

Send workpiece diameter/section, material, initial surface condition, target finish, required wheel/compound and production output.

For abrasive-belt pipe/rod finishing, see Pipe and Rod Polishing Machine.

machine selection guide

A metal buffing machine is selected around the workpiece shape and required finish. The existing table contains several power and automation references, so the final configuration needs confirmation for the actual job. If an automatic buffing machine is required, describe the feeding and handling arrangement rather than assuming that every listed configuration has the same automation. For metal surface finishing, provide the starting surface condition and an approved finished sample where possible. Clarify whether the finish requirement is visual, dimensional or both. A sample of the incoming component and a sample of the required final finish are more useful than an undefined request for a bright surface. Identify areas that must be protected from contact and any edges or features that limit access to the wheel. If a family of components is involved, send the different shapes rather than only the largest overall dimensions. State whether loading will be manual or needs to be integrated into an existing production sequence. Ask IMC to identify the proposed wheel arrangement and the basis used to select it for the workpiece. Discuss how the component will be held during processing and how finish will be inspected on a trial sample. Confirm consumables, handling equipment, maintenance requirements and the scope of supply in the quotation. Keep the accepted sample or finish specification with the enquiry so that the intended result is understood before ordering.

Information to send with your enquiry

  • workpiece shape and dimensions
  • material
  • starting finish
  • target finish sample
  • wheel arrangement and handling requirement

Provide a dimensioned drawing or a representative sample together with the intended daily quantity. Identify the features that must be held to a tolerance and the inspection method used for acceptance. Where several sizes will run on the same equipment, describe the smallest and largest job and how often changeovers are needed. This helps clarify the tooling and setup discussion before a quotation is prepared.

Configuration, inspection and support

Ask IMC to confirm the proposed model, included tooling and the scope of supply in the written quotation. Discuss inspection of a representative finished component and any acceptance requirements before ordering. Confirm installation needs, operator guidance, maintenance information, spare parts, warranty terms and after sales support for the configuration offered. Capacity, electrical supply, automation and delivery should be agreed for the actual job; do not infer an option solely from another model listed on this page.

Use the IMC machine catalogue to compare related equipment, read the buyer FAQs for enquiry guidance, or contact IMC with your drawing and selection details.

Selecting Buffing Machine

Define the incoming surface and desired final appearance before choosing a buffing arrangement. Part geometry affects access, holding and wheel contact. Compare manual and automatic handling for the same component, and confirm whether a polishing stage is required before buffing.
